A Chicago-based marijuana business has been approved for tax benefits to build a large production facility on the grounds of a former state prison that has become a hub for marijuana-related businesses. The Orange County Industrial Development Agency last week approved a 15-year tax abatement and other benefits requested by Green Thumb Industries, which hopes to start construction by May 1 on a 450,000-square-foot building it says will be built in three phases.
